Lace, cotton, or microfiber thongs, low-rise or classic, with thin or wide sides: the mid-cut option between a string and briefs, the most popular choice to avoid panty lines without giving up coverage.
A women's tanga keeps a piece of fabric at the back, reduced in width but still present, connected to the waistband by thin sides. It occupies exactly the middle ground between the thong, which has no back, and the brief, which covers fully. This compromise makes it the best-selling cut at several brands.
The difference lies in the back coverage and comfort in use. The thong is more discreet under very tight-fitting materials, but its thin band can be felt when sitting for long periods. The tanga leaves a slight mark under an extremely fine fabric, nearly invisible under jeans or dress pants, and can be worn all day without thinking about it. For everyday use, it is the most sensible choice of the two.
The height of the waistband significantly affects the use of this cut. A low rise tanga stops below the navel and disappears under low rise trousers, but it easily slips on curvier figures. The women's tanga with a classic rise, sitting at the navel, stays in place better and works well with most current high-waisted trousers. The versions with wider sides, where the side band measures two or three centimetres, are the most stable and comfortable for a whole day.
The women's lace tanga dominates this segment because the flexibility of lace follows the curve without marking, and because it adorns a very small piece. The women's cotton tanga remains the everyday choice, with wider side models being more stable. Lastly, smooth microfiber is the answer to form-fitting clothing, and it is on it that laser cutting can be found.
