Women’s and men’s pyjamas in cotton, satin or fleece, nighties, nightshirts, terry robes, dressing gowns and kimonos: our category Night and homewear brings together the pieces worn in bed as well as those we keep for Sunday mornings. The pyjama tops and bottoms are sold separately, and the selection features Admas, Selmark, and Lisca.

The dressing gown and the bathrobe serve different purposes: the dressing gown is made from terry or waffle fabric and absorbs water after a bath, while the bathrobe is made from non-absorbent material, fleece or satin, and is meant to keep you warm at home. A cotton pyjama is breathable and can be washed in hot water, satin stays cool, and fleece covers you in winter.

The fabric of women's pyjamas: cotton, satin, fleece or silk

This is the question that determines everything else, long before the cut. The cotton pyjama remains the reliable choice for everyday wear: it's breathable, can be washed at high temperatures, and withstands the use of being worn every night. The satin pyjama offers a smooth and cool feel that glides on the skin, appreciated in summer and by those who get hot at night, with the advantage of not marking the hair. A women's fleece pyjama or fleece outfit is perfect for winter and poorly heated interiors. Finally, silk regulates temperature better than all other fabrics, but requires more demanding care.

Pyjama, nightdress and nightshirt, three distinct uses

The two-piece women's pyjama remains the most popular choice because it allows you to mix and match the top and bottom, creating several outfits from a few pieces. This is why we offer pyjama tops and bottoms separately. The nightdress, shorter and sleeveless, is chosen for its lightness and is often worn in summer. The nightshirt, longer and more covering, comes in washed cotton versions, far from its outdated image it once had.

Bathrobe in terry or housecoat: what separates them

The criterion that really distinguishes these items is the weight of the terry cloth, measured in grams per square meter. Below 400 g/m², a bathrobe dries quickly but absorbs little: it suits a heated bathroom or summer use. Around 450 to 500 g/m², it becomes enveloping and truly absorbs, at the cost of a longer drying time. Waffle fabric plays a different role: lighter and less absorbent, it dries very quickly and folds small, making it a travel essential. The housecoat escapes this criterion as it’s not meant for drying: it is judged on warmth and how the fabric holds up over washes. The kimono, lighter and often shorter, is more of an indoor garment than bath linen.

What size to choose for women's pyjamas?

A pyjama isn't chosen according to the exact size of daywear. Extra room is needed because you move around, bend your legs, and the fabric should never pull on your shoulders or waist. In practice, sticking to your usual size works for a loose fit, but going up a size is preferable for a fitted style or for non-stretch materials like poplin. The point to check first is the inseam and sleeve length: that's where discomfort shows up first, well before the bust measurement.

Women's loungewear, or nightwear that steps out of the bedroom

The boundary between night and home has blurred. Loose cotton pyjama bottoms are worn on Saturday mornings, a satin top can go under a cardigan, and a fleece set replaces loungewear during remote work. Essentially, women's homewear shifts the criteria: we now look at how the fabric holds up after washing, the durability of the seams, and the shoulder fit just as much as comfort in bed. This also explains the rise of matching sets, easier to mix and match, alongside the classic prints of traditional pyjamas. A women's homewear set is thus judged like daytime clothing: how it drapes on the shoulders, the quality of the knit, and the strength of the seams. A successful women's homewear outfit can be recognized by the fact that you can open the door without changing, something no classic pyjama allows. This is precisely what someone buying women's homewear instead of nightwear is looking for.

Pyjamas and bathrobes, for women as well as men

The men's pyjama follows exactly the same logic of fabric, with a greater emphasis on cotton and flannel, and straight cuts. Our selection also includes men's bathrobes and housecoats. In terms of selection, each pyjama brand retained, Admas, Selmark and Lisca, are lingerie brands that approach nightwear with the same quality requirements as their daytime collections, and not as a secondary range. For night pieces intended to be seen rather than just to sleep in, such as satin nightdresses or negligees, the entry is through sexy lingerie.
