One-piece swimsuit with shaping effect, deep neckline, side cutouts or racerback for swimming: models made with underwire and molded cups, up to larger sizes.
The strength of a one-piece swimsuit lies in its continuity: a lining can run uninterrupted from the bust to the hips, which no two-piece allows. It’s this continuity that enables both a true shaping effect, stable support during diving, and deep necklines that stay in place, as the tension is spread across the whole piece.
This is the most sought-after version: the shaping one-piece swimsuit, often looked for under the name of flat tummy one-piece swimsuit. A firm lining placed at the front smooths the tummy without compressing, and a cut that defines the waist reshapes the silhouette. Three features distinguish a good model: draping or gathers on the tummy area, which hide much better than a smooth fabric; a V-neck or plunging neckline that elongates the bust; and a back that is sufficiently covering to anchor the shaping tension. Without this structure, mere compression won’t have any lasting effect: the fabric relaxes after a few swims.
The women's one-piece swimming swimsuit has different criteria. The racerback allows free movement of the shoulders, the straps don’t slip, and the material stands up to chlorine, which is not the case for a standard beach swimsuit where the elastane degrades in a few weeks of pool use. Look for a mention of chlorine resistance and a full lining. Side cuts and deep necklines, on the other hand, are not suitable for repeated movement.
A model simply offered in a larger size won’t support a generous bust once wet. What to look for: moulded cups with underwire, wide adjustable straps, and a back that adjusts with hooks rather than just stretchy mesh. These three elements turn the one-piece swimsuit into a true piece of swim lingerie.
